George Hatfield Demonstration 4/4

Click on thumbnail for full size image

George lays out his pattern on a piece of masonite
His important marking points and dimensions are marked
The leg stock is roughed down...
and the important marks are transferred

George shows how few marks really need to be transferred
The pattern is then located for review while actually turning
George gets started and...
explains his sequence of cuts and why

The sequence is not only for speed but...
some cuts must be made first to enable others to be made
George makes and measures the only real critical dimension cut
The production turner aims for a smooth, off the tool, finish

The off the tool finish is really great so...
only a bit of sanding is necessary
The finished product
George finishes up answering any last questions on the day
