Kelly Mehler was the RWS featured presenter in January

Kelly's workshop, held at Woodcraft, was sold out

Working with solid wood requires understanding the total wood movement

Explaining the features of a Dozuki and dovetail saw

Some of the available dovetail layout equipment

Kelly explains and demonstrates how simple dovetails are

Cleaning up the corners

Kelly shows that anyone with a bit of patience can do it

As usual, the crowd feasts on DiBella's subs during the lunch break

Kelly personalizes books and videos during the break

Kelly used a "miniature" solid case to explain his points

One of the best tips was the use of a router to cut the dovetails...

in the case and then create a router table by holding the router...
in the bench and creating a perfect fitting fence using scrap...

and a couple of clamps
Since nothing was changed or readjusted, the fits should be great...

with very little fitting or fuss

Kelly lectures on the various benefits of the glues available to us

The case progresses and we move on to the creation of the top...

where Kelly explains using "in" and "out" sides to minimize jointing error
