Tom Meiller's Queen Anne Side Chair

Click on thumbnail for full size image

I made this Queen Anne side chair at Gene Landon's class at Olde Mill (2002).

Primary wood: Walnut

Secondary woods: White pine rail shell backer & seat frame
Upholstery: Leather

Finish: Boiled linseed oil, walnut husk stain, and orange shellac. Glazed with burnt umber and oil, then waxed.

  Crest rail.

I wasn't happy with the lines of the original shell I started to carve, so I filed them off and started over.

  Ball and Claw.

I took this photo to "trace" the ball and claw for the drawing I made of this chair for Olde Mill's "Gene Landon Masterwork" series.
