NATIONAL WORKSHOP: Make Your Own Spokeshave - Rusty Tchernis
About this event
Making your own spokeshave with our Guest National Speaker, Rusty Tchurnis.
In this class, Rusty will guide you through taking a block of Jatoba wood and transforming it into a useful shop tool. Taking a template, you will transfer it to your block of wood, and begin shaping it using a combination of saw and chisel work. Once it begins to resemble a spokeshave, you will then work on aligning and mating the Hock blade to it. Finally, the class will wrap with finishing work such as shaping and smoothing the handle, personal ornamentation, and discussion about what to use to protect the spokeshave from rust and wear.
The cost of materials is NOT included in the registration fee. The materials cost is $50 which is payable to Rusty Tchurnis upon entry to this workshop.
